Pebbles in a Stream

THIS autumn I will be going on the trip of a lifetime, up the coast of Norway to Svalbard, and just the thought of it fills me with ideas for paintings and jewellery.

Being at sea, hopefully watching the northern lights ripple overhead, spotting wildlife such as walrus and polar bears, climbing mountains and watching waterfalls cascade down the side of fjords, after two years of covid it seems an almost impossible dream.

I am terrified something will get in the way somehow and yet to spend time worrying would be to waste this inspiration so I am determined to be positive, to learn Norwegian, find Norwegian music to listen to and generally soak up the best bits of Scandinavian culture.

This necklace is my first piece inspired by the journey to come.

There is a central silver pod surrounded by labradorite, amazonite and quartz beads. It is quite hard to photograph labradorite well so here is a picture of it being worn.
